I tasted this gem on the heals of the Stanza.  The Concannon folks claim to be the first winery to bottle up Petite Sirah, which may explain the general impression that they are doing something right here.  Nice fruit, nice finish.  I’ve got to find time to go tasting in Livermore.

Never judge a book by its cover.  So… judge a wine by its label?  mmmGuilty.  Some friends brought this tasty shiraz and I’m lucky they did, because I never would have bought it.  It is an easy-drinker with a mellow blast of fruit.

paid: nada (but suspect $12)

Petite Sirah is usually a mouthful.  Not so with the Stanza (which is a good thing in the sense that it is smooth).  More rhythm section than soloist, but the kind of rhythm you want to kick back to.  Glad I didn’t pay the $16 sticker price.

The Irony lives up to its name, in a rather literal sense.  Decent fruit and very light, but unfortunately, the finish hits you like a stone-age farm tool.
